Dr Frida Carswell is a qualified Urogynaecologist, Gynaecologist and Obstetrician. She believes in holistic care, empowering women and involving them in their decision-making journey. She is hoping to meet your needs by offering a wide range of medical and surgical solutions as well as alternative therapies. 

She is experienced in all areas of gynaecological practice and surgery, including advanced surgery and keyhole surgery. Dr Carswell takes particular interest in pelvic organ prolapse, birth injuries, faecal incontinence, urinary incontinence, and other bladder problems such as bladder pain and recurrent UTI’s. She will also look after women with mesh complications and vesico or rectovaginal fistula’s. Dr Carswell performs urodynamic testing if required.

 

Dr Frida Carswell was born in Sweden. She moved to Australia at age 19 and undertook medical studies at the University of Newcastle. After graduating from Medicine she underwent Obstetrics and Gynaecology specialist training in Sydney and Newcastle. In 2017 she undertook a Fellowship in Urogynaecology at St Thomas Hospital in London. Frida has now taken this further and is one of few selected Gynaecologists to undergo sub-specialty training in Urogynaecology.

 

She also undertakes and publishes research in the area of Urogynaecology and is a conjoint lecturer at the University of Newcastle.

 

Dr Carswell operates at Lingard Private Hospital, Merewether.
